Why does Kyma recognize a MOTU FastLane MIDI interface, but then not pass any MIDI data to Kyma?

Why does Kyma recognize a MOTU FastLane MIDI interface and allow me to choose it as my MIDI input device, but then not actually pass any MIDI data to Kyma? I have confirmed that all components (interface, cables, and devices are working properly).

For the first time in all my years of working with Kyma, I am in need of two simulataneous MIDI inputs for a portable setup. So ... if the FastLane is not compatible with Kyma/Pacarana, I'd be interested in learning what very small (and cheap) interface would meet the criteria of having 2 MIDI input jacks and (hopefuly) one output ... and be compatible with Kyma/Pacarana

Have you plugged the two MIDI interfaces into the two USB inputs on the back of the Pacarana? It can merge two input MIDI streams (not sure how it will do with this one, though, since it is also MIDI out).

Maybe a simpler approach would be to use Delora's Kyma Connect software http://www.delora.com/products/kymaconnect/
