      Hello from Italy,

Is there any workaround to import a Kyma 7 sound in Kyma X? I own both systems (a new PacaRana and an old 320) in two different studios and while I can exchange sounds from Kyma X upwards to Kyma 7, it is not compatible on the backward side. I know this is normal on software version that generally are compatibile only from the old version to the newer, but I just wondering if someone knows a workaround since sometimes I work on a project that I start on the Kyma 7 and I move to the other studio where I have the 320. At the moment we take the screenshot and report manually the parameters and rebuild manually the patch…

      Thanks for any suggestion.

        Hello Riccardo,

In Kyma 7, there are new Sound classes that did not exist in Kyma X, and there are improvements and additions to Sound classes in Kyma 7 that Kyma X doesn’t know about. We are able to move Sounds forward in time to the newer version through automatic translations, but there is no way to go backwards in time (because, 10 years ago, we didn’t know what was going to be in the new Kyma 7 😉 Unfortunately, your strategy of hand copying is really the only solution. Or you could try restricting yourself to using only the subset of Sounds that are in the older version.
