After replicating a multichannel pan, how does ?VoiceNumber get handled

Yes, I would like to replicate a Signal Flow that has a multichannel pan. The replicator comes after the MultiChannelPan, that is to say an outer replicator replicates the MChPan. The sounds that feed into the MultiChannelPan are assigned to be shared sounds in the MCPan but not the outer replication.

I would like to refer to ?VoiceNumber in my scripts that go into the replicated MCPan but it doesnt seem to function as I expect from doing that in other contexts without a MultChannel panner.

Is there something I can try? Or am I just mishearing the result?

You should be able to use ?ChannelNumber (and ?NumberChannels) in the Sounds affected by MultichannelPan and ?VoiceNumber (plus ?NumberVoices) in the outer Replicator.
