SampleRate reducer and BitCrushing

Hi forum

Maybe a newbie question but what is the best way to create a varying clock to control the sample rate and a bit crushing to 8 bits? Very interested on those digital artifacts.

Many thanks

If you attenuate (losing the least significant bits) and then gain, you create a full amplitude signal with fewer bits to get quantization artifacts.  If you SampleAndHold the signal by the inverse of your desired sample rate, you can continuously control the sample rate to get aliasing.

Hi SSC
What can I say? Many many thanks for your help ... again.

Thanks Luis!

btw, hope it is ok that we removed the flag on this answer...not sure, but I think flagging usually means offensive content.  Which we don't THINK it was (but on second thought, maybe the idea of downsampling and quantizing IS offensive to audiophiles ;)  Anyway, if you intended to mark it as the best answer, the way to do that is by clicking the Check mark, rather than flagging it.  But please go ahead and re-flag it if you do find it offensive! :)  Thanks!
