How do you un-set the "on" colour of a toggle button in the VCS?

I set the "on color" of a fill toggle button in the VCS, and then decided the default 3D dark grey looked better. I couldn't find a way to un-set the colour. I tried changing it to other controls and back again, even to "none" but that didn't un-set the colour. Does the "on color" menu need a "none" or "default" setting?

Selecting "White" from the On color menu removes the color.
