Whats the correct way to pass a String as a green variable from a Script

I am not getting the result I expect from

 

(inputs at: 1)
start: 0 s
ip: '169.254.136.33'

 

My custom class ( NeverEngine Labs SendOSC ) is expecting a String type in its parameter field which I substitue with ?ip

I think I have come across this before, is it that a script cannot pass string variables?

You can set green variables to strings, so the problem may lie in where and how you are using the green variable in the Sound. Is it used in one parameter field or several? Which ones? Thanks!
