What kind of wave shaping is occurring with the IO CharacteristicAsFrequencyDivider?

That example in the Prototypes (?) or maybe in the Sound Library..

where an IO characteristic cleverly remaps a phasor ramp to output the same at a divided rate.

I was wondering what kind of wave shaping that is when passing non-linear audio through like a voice sanple

or something..

Not sure there's a name for it. Something like overflow distortion but instead of clipping, it wraps.
Wavefolding distortion is implemented by the WrapGain prototype , so I guess this is something else
