timeindex recording

as TimeIndex can be used to read a file, like a playback head that one can move freely over a recorded tape, is there a way to use TimeIndex as a recorder head, and write data into a file at given index?

It seems to me that you could get the equivalent result by using your (potentially warped) TimeIndex as an index into a samples file while recording the output into a new file?
yes i thought i could do something like that. but it is limited to 'real time' recording.
with a timeIndex recorder i would like to be able to jump directly to a given index and write at a chosen (and maybe warping) rate. Like this i could use 'programmable' files, being able to do wave editing on the fly.
