HMM - Play back midi sequence as per file

Hi

So I love the HMM, very fun and inspiring to explore new patterns.  I'm a bit confused as to why when all three of the maintain parameters (e.g. pitch, timing etc.) are set to 1 it doesn't seem to just play back the midi file exactly as per the sequence? Or at least I doesn't appear to to me.  Sometimes it does but then it seems to still jump around the file.  Am I misunderstanding something?

Also (and perhaps this is a feature of the midi files i'm using, though they don't appear to contain controller data), i'm finding that when I load and play a file and send to midiout it's sending a midi cc7 volume message (I presume) which sets my external synth to zero volume.  I have to turn back up the master volume on my synth each time.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Geoff,

If you set BeatsPerHyperBar to a very large number (like 1024 or larger), then when you set the controls (!MaintainPitch, !MaintainTimeToNext, !MaintainPosition) to their max values of 1, it will play through the sequence in the original order.

Am guessing that the files you are using have a cc07 message hiding somewhere; if you still don't find it, though could you send a short example exhibiting this behavior to us by email?

Thanks!
