Oscilloscope display export

I am involved in a video / music project where I would like to make HD clips of the Oscilloscope Display.

According to internet sources, I can do that by making a desktop film using QuickTime. The hitch is that QuickTime will only make a 1920x1080 HD film of the entire desktop and I want to make one of the Oscilloscope Display in various sounds.

Is it possible to record the oscilloscope image to disk in a similar way to recording audio? Or does anyone have a work around besides using the QuickTime solution and trimming the image?

Thanks.

In the newer versions of QuickTime, it gives you the option of drawing a box around the area of the screen you'd like to record. Would this work for your project? (I checked, and it gives this option for Mojave and Catalina; which Mac OS are you using?)

I think the box drawing is the best solution for this project. I'm using Catalina. although I was somehow hoping for a 1920x1080 solution the box drawing will be fine. Thanks for checking into it fo me.
You could try making the Oscilloscope display as large as possible prior to doing the recording.
Making the Oscilloscope display as large as possible using the same dimension relationship is the solution for now. 1536 x 863 gives me a chance to see what's going on in the rest of the VCS.
If you have a second monitor, you could put the Oscilloscope in its own layout and show that layout in the Secondary VCS window on the second monitor.

First, duplicate the layout with the Oscilloscope; then remove everything but the Oscilloscope from that layout.

If you're using a Timeline, you can create a marker and show the Oscilloscope layout in the secondary VCS when the time cursor crosses the time of the marker.

In the Multigrid, you can use the Gear menu to specify that the Oscilloscope layout should be displayed in the secondary VCS whenever the Multigrid is played.

If the Sound is not in a Timeline or Multigrid, open the Secondary VCS (from the File menu). Right click in the background of the secondary VCS and select the Oscilloscope-only layout. Then you can put that secondary VCS on the second monitor and make it full screen.
Thanks for pursuing this somewhat distantly-related-to-audio need!
This worked out very well!
