Could this work with MOTU 828 in USB mode?

At the moment my Paca is connected to one Firewire port on my PC and MOTU 828 on the other Firewire port.

I  would like to switch Firewire off and connect Paca to Ethernet and MOTU 828 using USB. This could also enable me to swithch to laptop when I work elswhere.

Is there a some documentatio explaining the Ethernet part of Paca operation? Would it be possible to set a fixed IP address for Paca?

There is no way to manually assign the Paca's IP address unless you do so use the "reserve IP address" feature of your network's DHCP service. The Paca's searches for DHCP and uses that to obtain it's IP address. If you connect the Paca directly to your computer's Ethernet port then the Paca will self-assign an IP address in the link-local range. The computer's Ethernet port should be set to use DHCP and it too will self-assign when direct connected to the Paca.

There is no reason to switch from using Firewire the connection between the MOTU 828 and the Paca. Just continue using Firewire between those two. The Ethernet connection handles the communications between the computer and the Paca so there is no need to have the Firewire also connected to the computer. The computer does not even need to have Firewire.
