Problem with using Finder in Mac OSx

Question

Sorry for such a petty problem, but it has slowed my work down to a snail's pace.

There seems to be a severe problem between Kyma and Osx communicating when opening files, samples, etc.

This is especially the case when using a sound that using several sample files. No matter how many times a folder has been added to the "often used folders", i get a prompt to locate the folder, and most frustrating, followed up by a prompt for the location of the next sample, when it is in the folder I just selected. Also, it seems almost by default to always return to the Documents folder, even though I have previously opened a folder, I don't understand why it just won't open the same folder twice in a row. I am running 10.9.5 and the newest Kyma, but i must admit this has been a problem for me since moving to Kyma 7.

Is this just happening to me? (most likely, hahaha)

Does it ask you whether you'd like to continue searching or take you immediately to the file dialog to locate the file?

Is this happening with one Sound in particular?  MultiSample?  Morph1DSampleCloud?

Could you please confirm that you have the newest version of Kyma (by checking for software updates in the Help menu)?  Thanks.

Yes, I am using the newest kyma and Mac OSX 10.9.5
It is happening more often with the sample cloud Sounds (Morph 1d, 2d, etc.)
In general, it will ask for the location of the sample, even if it is within a Commonly Used folder, then when asking for the next sample, will either return to the same folder, or go back to Documents. However without fail, it will return to the Documents folder after the 2nd sample.
Even the slightest change means i have to go through the process again, which with the Sounds i am using contains up to 30 sound files, and takes ten minutes each time to reload the samples.
The oddest thing is if i don't use the sound for 20 or so minutes,without changing anything, it seems like Kyma forgets where the samples are and i have to reload them all again.
this is probably me just not understanding the new Mac osx, most likely, haha. I apologise for such a basic question, but it has been slowing work down to a snails pace.

Puzzling...Do any of the folders in your Frequently Used Folders have an unusually large number of files?

In your Sound parameter field, are you setting the filename by typing it in or by clicking the disk icon and finding/selecting the file?

Do your files have the filetype extensions on them (file.aif)?  Does this happen with the samples that came with Kyma as well as with your own samples or only with your samples?

Are the samples files on an external drive or on the same disk as Kyma?

By some chance is Documents in your list of Frequently Used Folders?

Does it ever ask you whether you'd like to continue searching or does it take you immediately to the file dialog to locate the file?

When you don't use it for 20 minutes and come back, have you switched out of Kyma or are you not using the computer at all.  Does the computer go to sleep?

i wouldn't say unusually, but about 100.

only my own, i would guess...some have the .aif, some do not.

Are the samples files on an external drive or on the same disk as Kyma?

same disk as kyma. and in a folder that has been tagged as a commonly used folder.

I have tried both ways, with and without it listed, and the behavior is the same.

no sleep, not even screen saver. it just seems to forget, very odd indeed.

Jim, could you please try a quick experiment?  Please try comparing a Morph1DSampleCloud with files WITH the .aif extension.  Compared to a different Morph1DSampleCloud with different files in it, ones that do NOT have the .aif extension.

Thanks so much for keeping on this.
A strange result, as it now tells me they are not the correct file format for the Morph1d (?!?)
all of these sample files were made with the Recorder tool, as aiffs, so it is really confusing. Also I have noticed it sometimes adds the .aif extension to the file name and sometimes doesn't. I think I had overlooked that before.
I am running Osx 10.9.5 if that helps.
At this point i am spending more time refinding files than running the Sound. It's getting really confusing, haha, sorry!
