Using Kyma again after absence and problem connecting with Mac PRO 2019 - Firewire and Ethernet

Hi SS and Kyma folks,

I've been away from the studio for quite awhile and trying to get everything setup again. My primary is a 2019 Intel MacPRO. I also have an M2 MacbookPRO. I've tried both with the same results.

I have a PACARANA

OSX Sonoma 14.2.1

Firewire connection

1st Tried: USB-C to Thunderbolt2 to Firewire 800 adapter - - works with my other FW800 devices just fine.

2nd Tried: New Starlink FW800 PCIe card - works with my other FW800 devices just fine.

With Firewire I do see the Pacarana listed in the System Info under Firewire

With both these Firewire setups, Kyma 7++ seems to load and it opens up the main screens however I get the dialog that says "Please turn on or connect your Kyma Signal Processor". This keeps popping up and the Status dialog says "Signal processor is not initialized"

I need to Force Quit to get out of Kyma.

Second Method: The second method is to connect Ethernet cable to Expansion B and MacPRO built in Ethernet connection.

Network panel show Ethernet1 go YELLOW and IPv6 set to Automatic.

With this approach Kyma7++ does not open the main windows but quickly gives a DIFFERENT message and single dialog. "Please turn on or connect your Kyma audio processing unit"

Ethernet approach

Maybe I'm confused of the difference between audio processing unit and signal processor.

For audio Interfaces I have two that should be compatible - Ultralite mk3 and TC Electonics Konnekt 24D. But I can't get past the first problem.

I'm kind of wondering whether my Firmware is up to date or maybe there is an issue with updating it.

My ideal setup would be Pacarana via Ethernet with MOTU Ultralite connected to Pacarana's firewire port.

Sounds like the firmware is not up to date. Please contact Symbolic Sound by email and we can walk you through how to update the firmware. Thanks!
