transform female voice to male voice in Kyma

hello everone,

its been a while since my last post here.

For a current film project i need to transform a female voice to a male voice. Basically, the scene is about a woman that uses a phone-app to change her voice to remain unrecognized during a phone call. So technicaly it doesn´t has to be 100% artifactfree since it will be filtered anyway, but of course it would be great if it sounds convincingly like a male voice.

where would you start? i was thinking about using the tau editor… shifting formants and pitch indendently and see how far i get with that. any other recommendation?

best, Johannes

TAU seems like a great approach! I would try pitch shifting alone first. If you search in the Sound Browser (by Sound name) for Sounds that have the word 'male' or 'formant', you might find some good starting points for live processing.

Please let us know how it goes!
