USB-C connection between Pacamara and Macbook Air

I want to connect my MacBook Air (M2 15” from late-2023) with two identical USB-C ports to my new Pacamara. I’ve been using one of those computer ports for my large USB-C monitor and the other port for a dongle (link below) which provides an Ethernet connection to the Pacamara. The dongle has two USB-C ports,  (1 USB-3.0 and 1 USB-C 3.1) but neither one seems to work for connectin either the Pacamara or the ASUS monitor. So it seems I have 3 devices that that happily connecting directly to the computer via USB-C, but only two ports available on the computer. I have successfully used the USB-C port on the dongle that sits next to the HDMI input for a TimeMachine backup drive, so I know that port works.

Any thoughts?

According to the link you provided, the ports are lower bandwidth than is typical for modern devices: the Ethernet connection is only 100 Mbps (rather than gigabit), the USB-C port has only USB 2.0 bandwidth, the other USB-C port is for power delivery only, one of the USB ports runs at USB 2.0 speed (the other one is USB 3.0).

We strongly recommend that you invest in a USB-C hub that is capable of sustaining the higher bandwidth connection that the USB-C port to your laptop is capable of. Some people on the Kyma Discord have reported success with multiport hubs by Caldigit. At the very least, do not rely on hubs that do not provide the full bandwidth your equipment is capable of.
