Cannot route Midi control in and out independently as they always snap to the same device.

Question

Midi in and out always snap to the same device, when what I need i want a different source (external MIDI controller) and destination (host USB) to MIDI echo..  How to make the MIDI input source and output destination independent?  The objective id to midi through to another app (midi echo).

You can do this if you create a custom aggregrate MIDI input first, then select the MIDI output:

1. Select the bottom entry in the MIDI Input drop down list.
2. In the Configuration dialog, check just the box associated with your external MIDI controller.
3. Select Host USB from the MIDI Output drop down list.
